The National Code of Good Practice for Australian Apprenticeships is designed to assist employers, apprentices and trainees understand each other's roles and responsibilities within an apprenticeship or traineeship.

The National Code is provided to all employers, apprentices and trainees by their Apprentice Connect Australia Provider when they sign up to an apprenticeship or traineeship.

The National Code can also be found on the Australian Apprenticeships website.

Following consultation on how the National Code could be improved, we have made a number of draft changes that include:

  • Using plain English, to make the National Code easier to understand.

  • Adding further information about the roles and responsibilities of the employer and the apprentice.

  • Including additional information on the roles and responsibilities of other parties (such as the RTO, Apprentice Connect Australia Providers and State or Territory Training Authorities).

  • Adding some additional links to resources at the end of the National Code.

We are seeking your feedback on whether these changes will improve the National Code, and if you have any further suggestions to strengthen or improve the National Code.

The survey will show a comparison between sections in the current version of the National Code and the updated draft version.

This survey may take up to 10 minutes to complete.
