The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations is consulting on the proposed content of the Digital Labour Platform Deactivation Code and the Road Transport Industry Termination Code.

The Codes are required to support certain provisions of the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes No. 2) Act 2024:

  • The Digital Labour Platform Deactivation Code supports new protections for employee-like workers from unfair deactivation from a digital labour platform.

  • The Road Transport Industry Termination Code supports new protections for regulated road transport contractors from unfair termination by a road transport business.

Both Codes will be legislative instruments made by the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations.
